Traffic engineering
Traffic impact assessment, intersection analysis, access advice and technical responses for developments and road networks across NSW.
Traffic engineering focused on the decision
TEF Consulting provides grounded in evidence traffic engineering for projects ranging from individual sites to interacting urban road networks. We examine existing operation, the change created by a proposal and the measures required to achieve a safe and workable outcome.
Development and network assessment
Our engineers prepare traffic impact assessments for development applications and planning proposals, review access arrangements, analyse intersections and respond to technical matters raised by councils, Transport for NSW and other stakeholders. We can become involved during site selection, concept design, formal assessment, detailed design or following approval review.
Typical scope
- Existing traffic and transport conditions
- Traffic generation and distribution
- Intersection and network performance
- Site access, circulation and queue assessment
- Construction traffic and temporary arrangements
- Peer review, expert advice and responses to submissions
Proportionate analysis
The level of assessment is matched to the scale and risk of the decision. We combine observations, survey data, applicable guidance, analytical tools and senior engineering judgement. Assumptions and limitations are made explicit so that reviewers can understand how conclusions were reached.
Practical recommendations
Where change is required, recommendations consider geometry, operations, staging and constructability. The objective is not simply to identify an impact, but to describe a credible response that can be incorporated into the design and approval pathway.
