Road safety & environment
Independent road safety and transport environment assessment for proposed designs, existing networks and operational arrangements.
Independent assessment of transport risk
Road safety work requires a systematic review of how road users interact with a design or existing environment. TEF Consulting identifies credible risks, considers the factors contributing to them and recommends measures that are practical in the project context.
Design and operational review
Assessments may address proposed access points, intersections, parking areas, pedestrian and cyclist movements, servicing arrangements, traffic management or existing locations with a history of operational concern. Work is scaled to the stage and purpose of the project.
What we consider
- Road function, speed environment and user expectations
- Visibility, conflict points and intersection operation
- Pedestrian, cyclist and vulnerable road user needs
- Heavy vehicles, servicing and unusual operational movements
- Existing crash, observation and traffic evidence where available
- Practical treatments, responsibilities and implementation priorities
Transport environmental advice
Where relevant, our work also considers the wider environmental effects of transport infrastructure and operation, including interactions with adjacent land uses and the need for specialist coordination.
Clear priorities
Findings distinguish material safety issues from matters of preference or design refinement. Recommendations explain the risk being addressed and are framed so that the project team can incorporate them into subsequent design and approval work.
